The City of Surrey is looking for an experienced, visionary leader to join its Planning & Development Department as Director, Development Planning. This is a rare opportunity to help shape one of Canada’s fastest growing and most forward thinking urban centres.
Surrey is transforming. From the development of a vibrant new downtown entertainment district to the evolution of dynamic urban centres and neighbourhoods that span the spectrum from rural to high density urban, you will play a key leadership role at the heart of it all.
You will lead a skilled and passionate team of planners, urban designers, and technical professionals, managing a high volume of complex development applications and contributing to both policy and culture. This role also offers the chance to help guide a newly unified division, champion a solutions focused planning approach, and drive innovation and continuous improvement across the department.
We are seeking a collaborative, strategic leader with more than 10 years of municipal planning experience, including at least five years in a management role. You bring a strong foundation in planning regulations and policy, paired with creativity, agility, and a commitment to building inclusive, sustainable communities.
