Chief Executive Officer – Blueberry River Restoration Society

We are honoured to partner with the Blueberry River Restoration Society to search for their first Chief Executive Officer.

The BC Supreme Court, in its historic and precedent-setting ruling on June 29, 2021, ruled that the BC Government breached the Blueberry River First Nations’ Treaty 8 rights by overdeveloping the land, that the cumulative effects of industrial development have displaced Blueberry River First Nations’ members, and that they have forcibly interfered with their treaty right to practice their traditional vocations.

The Blueberry River Implementation Agreement was established in January 2023 between the BC Government and Blueberry River First Nations to serve as a framework to rectify these treaty right infringements through reciprocal restoration.

To this end, the Blueberry River Restoration Society has been established to carry out the mission, as set out in the Blueberry River Implementation Agreement, of healing the land and the people of the Blueberry River First Nations. An initial $200 million is being allocated to fund these activities.

The CEO with Blueberry River Restoration Society offers a unique opportunity to play a historic role in advancing First Nations treaty rights, shaping meaningful progress for the Nations, and has implications for wider Canadian society. This role is positioned at the intersection of environmental healing and its interconnectedness with people and will serve as a model for others to follow. This is a call for a dedicated and passionate individual ready to leave a legacy in a transformative organization with substantial investment and a lasting impact.
