Executive Director – Georgia Strait Alliance

WMC is excited to share a great opportunity on behalf of our client, the Georgia Strait Alliance, a leading advocate for the protection of the Salish Sea for over 30 years. GSA is on a mission to mobilize and support collective action that sustains a thriving ecosystem where communities and marine life coexist in harmony. They tackle critical environmental issues through community engagement, political advocacy, and legal action, with a strong focus on biodiversity protection, climate action, pollution reduction, sustainable marine practices, and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.

GSA is currently seeking a passionate and visionary Executive Director (ED) to join their team. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will be a leader, collaborator, and catalyst for change, guiding the organization towards achieving its mission. This role involves overseeing all operations, including program development, staff leadership, financial sustainability, fundraising, and external relations. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of senior leadership experience in a non-profit or community-based organization, with a background in marine conservation, environmental sustainability, public policy, or a related field. Key attributes include a proven ability to inspire and manage a diverse team, and a strong commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples within whose traditional and unceded territories GSA operates.
